Hair Regrowth Update & Product Recommendation

On popular request share the update on my hair regrowth after one and a half years. I’ve always had healthy and thick hair which I think is genetic but of course, after having 3 kids and aging I started to see less hair volume than before which I thought was fine. But for quite some time I’ve been noticing heavy hair fall out for no reason (no post-partum) and noticing empty gaps in between my hair was quite obvious. There are many reasons for hair falls mostly it is internal factors and in women mainly it is due to hormonal changes (such as thyroid disorder), stress and low iron count in the blood. It is important to get a closer look into your body and get blood work done.

I’ve always had a low iron count as long as I know and I was missing on taking my supplements for quite some time (during the pandemic). After blood work, it turned out that my instincts were right and the iron in my blood count was low. I immediately started back with my iron supplements. Besides, looking internally, it is important to boost the results with hair oiling, messaging and taking good care of your hair including fewer hair wash days, being gentle while brushing the hair, less tension (not pulling back hair with elastic) etc.

Consistency is the key whether it is with your supplements or hair care routine such as hair oiling. It will take at least 3 months to see results. Here is a quick side-by-side hair growth (Day 1, 3 months later and one year later) update:

Hair oiling is a good way to promote blood circulation to help with hair growth and it is important to know what kind of hair oils should be used. Castrol oil and Rose Merry oil are the best ways to use for hair growth, and a combination of both works the best. Many like to use coconut oil but Coconut Oil does not promote hair growth, it only helps with hydration. You can use any of your trust brand oils but I’ve been using the Fable & Mane Hair Roots Oil (fully reviewed here) since the start of my journey and have gone through many bottles since then. The Hair Roots Oil from Fable & Mane carries a good mix of products to help promote hair growth and healthier scalp health.

My haircare routine is simple, I wash my hair once or twice weekly. I love the Kerastase Genesis Anti Hair-Fall (Reviewed here). The Kérastase Genesis Anti Hair-Fall Fortifying Conditioner is so incredible that I can swear by it. One of my biggest regrets was getting highlights this summer. The bleach made my hair look dry and dull. The Kerastase Genesis Anti Hair-Fall Fortifying Conditioner has been one conditioner that helped my hair look healthier and smoother.
I also really loved Aveda’s Nutriplenish shampoo Deep Moisture, it is designed for dry hair and it gently cleanses the hair without stripping the hair.

I use Christophe Robin Cleansing Paste, especially during summer days as this one exfoliates and adds extreme volume to my hair to extend my hair wash days.

Once a month I get to use a hair exfoliator to remove any sebum or product buildup from my hair. it is a game changer if you haven’t tried this. Here are a few formulas I love to use:

  • Aveda Scalp Solutions Exfoliating Scalp Treatment is a liquid gel exfoliant that instantly removes sebum and product buildup without disrupting the scalp barrier. It is easy to use and super gentle.
  • Fable & Mane SahaScalp Wild Ginger Purifying Scrub is a lathering scrub that stimulates hair follicles and deeply penetrates to remove product buildup with pink Himalayan salt. It is also infused with wild ginger to purify the scalp skin.
  • Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt is a little intense solution for a more oily and itchy sculpt. I love to use this formula during the summertime or when my scalp needs extra cleansing.

I do hot hair mask treatments once a month or every 2 months by getting my hair wet before hair wash and slathering up a hydrating mask followed by tying it up with a hot towel for 15 minutes. Sometimes I re-heat my towel to hydrate my hair deeply. Here are some of my favourite hair masks:

The Kerastase Nutritive 8H Magic Night Serum Hydrating Treatment for Dry Hair is one of my favourite overnight treatments to nourish dry ends immediately.

Here are some of my favourite priming sprays to protect my hair from heat:

One thing I’ve learned through my experience finishing hair with a good oil helps with hair texture and repairing properties. Any time you feel your hair feels and looks dry, especially the ends just rub some hair oil at the ends and you’ll see how it changes the way your hair looks. Here are some of my favourite hair oils:

  • Remilia The Cosmocap Hair Oil is the BEST!! They are hydrating. It is formulated with Keratin Amni Acid that helps strengthen the hair.
  • Kerastase Elixir Ultime Hydrating Hair Oil Serum is infused with a blend of 4 hair oils Marula Oil, Camellia Oil and Argan Oil which immediately adds shine, and helps with dryness and frizz. It’s a stable in my haircare routine.
  • Moroccan Hair Oil is one I’ve used for 20 years and is still one of the best formulas to treat frizz and increase hair shine.

In terms dry shampoo and setting sprays, I hardly use but I am very specific on what I use:

I hope you find this post helpful. I tried to link the product at Sephora so you can get the advantage of the savings even that is on right now till April 15. There are some new hair care launches that I am excited about but I haven’t tried them yet so really can’t share my thoughts on them.
