Summer days are in full swing and I have my summer sunscreen and sun essentials roundup today. Most of these are new formulas I’ve tried and loved recently. I have tested the best formulas to date which has become stable in my routine. Most formulas are for my face as I rarely go to the beach or expose my body to the sun. But I do have some favourite body formulas that I use when I am on the poolside.
I wear sunscreen almost every day all year long and I like lightweight formulas that can be worn without disturbing my makeup. Most of the formulas I am sharing today are quite the same in terms of formulations and how they wear one skin. Here are some of my favourite formulas:
Cle de Peau Beaute
Protective UV Cream SPF 50+ has been one of my all-time favourite sunscreen formulas. It is lightweight with a clear finish, adding a nice glow to the face. The formula has adaptable inner-shield technology that supports the skin’s natural protective abilities. It helps with all signs of aging and helps sustain and support the skin’s barrier function. I love how it is worn alone and with makeup.
Shiseido
Shiseido makes the best sunscreens and is one of the brands that I use their formulas regularly. The new Urban Environment Vita-Clear Sunscreen SPF 42 ($57) is a clear liquid formula and one of my favourites to use all year around. It is lightweight and is formulated with Vitamin C which helps with dark spots and bright up the skin. It wears well under the foundation nicely without disturbing the makeup throughout the day.
Fenty Skin
Hydra Vizor Broad Spectrum Mineral Sunscreen Spf 30 Moisturizer ($55) is a lightweight formula with no white cast and absorbs immediately. It is one of the best hydrating sunscreens I’ve tried. It immediately adds extra bounce to the skin and strengthens the skin’s moisture barrier. The formula is infused with niacinamide which helps with dark spots and reduces pores over time.
Glow Recipe
Glow Recipe just introduced their newest version of stick sunscreen Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Balm Sunscreen Stick with SPF 45 ($41). This is one of the best stick sunscreens besides one from Shiseido. It adheres well to the skin with a pleasant watermelon scent and I like it for quick touch-ups on no-makeup days. It will not disturb lightweight makeup – usually, I use this on the days I wear a little concealer, I use this for reapplication.
Kiehl’s
The Beyond Screen UV Serum SPF 50 ($57) is the newest addition from Kiehl’s. It is lightweight and invisible. This is one of the formulas that you can swipe with your daily moisturizer on a hot summer day as it carries texture like a serum so it doesn’t feel heavy. It is also formulated with Collagen and Peptide that helps with all signs of aging. It doesn’t clog pores and is recommended for ladies with acne and blemishes as the formula helps with the appearance of the problematic areas.
Vichy
Captial Soleil UV+AGE Daily SPF 60 ($42) is another great formula I’ve been obsessed with lately. The formula is enriched with 5% Niacinamide and Peptides. This helps with all signs of aging and will prevent and correct the appearance of fine lines and dark spots. It is lightweight and layers perfectly under the makeup. The formula is lightweight, doesn’t leave any white cast and has a nice serum-like texture that melts into the skin.
For body I only use cream formulations, I dont’ like the spray version. Here are the two formulas I love to use La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Lotion and the Vichy Capital Soleil Body & Face Sunscreen Lotion SPF 60. Both are designed to protect face and body are are water resistance. I do carry one of these almost everywhere during the summer time for reapplication for the entire family.
Recently La Roche-Posay introduced a formula for kids Anthelios Dermo-Pediatrics Moisturising Lotion which I like to use for my kids. I think it makes me feel a little more comfortable apply the products on my kids specially when they’re swimming.
Linking all my favorite formulas below, I do have couple of more sunscreen formulas on my radar but haven’t tied it yet, will share once I get them on my hands.
