Favourite Budget Beauty Buys

I have been asked numerous times for a budget beauty recommendation post to share here and as promised here is a full post that will cover everything from makeup, skincare and haircare that I have been loving recently from the drugstore. My picks are limited for the fact that there are only a few things I like when it comes to drugstore beauty products. This post covers new beauty launches that are quite interesting to me and are added to my beauty vanity.

Beauty

I am really picky when it comes to bases but Loreal Paris just launched their new True Match Nude Hyaluronic Acid Tinted Serum. I have used and tested the original True Match Foundation before which I was impressed by its finish and coverage. This is a tinted serum with 1% Hyaluronic Acid that plumps up the skin like a serum but covers like a foundation. It has medium but buildable coverage with a nice radiant finish while keeping skin hydrated and smooth throughout the day.

I got to try them in Light and Light Medium which I think the Light-Medium is a good match to my skin. Light (2-3) is has a pink undertone which doesn’t suit my skin tone. The texture is silky and feels like a serum, I didn’t need to set it with a powder but if you have combination skin then you might need to set the T-Zone with a light setting powder. I think it’s an absolutely amazing drug store find – skin looks fresh and radiant the entire day with good lasting power.

For eyes, I recently discovered Quo has launched a great selection of eyeshadow palettes and I have been loving the Sweet as Honey for its colour selection. You can create many beautiful neutral and different looks for day and night with this eyeshadow palette. I was really impressed with its shimmery formula – they feel buttery and apply nicely all over the eyelid.

I have been testing two new mascaras that include the Loreal Age Perfect Lash Magnifying Mascara and Covergirl Lash Blast Clean Mascara. They’re both totally different formulas but both have performed very well on my lashes.
The Loreal Age Perfect Lash Magnifying Mascara is a lightweight formula that is designed for mature lashes. I’ve been loving the formula for its smudge-proof properties. I personally can not wear mascara without adding a good amount of powder on my eyelid (browbone part where my lashes touch) for the fact that almost all mascara smudge and it gives me that dirty eye look but I was really impressed with this formula. I’ve been wearing it by itself and experienced anything.

The Covergirl Lash Blast Clean Mascara is a clean formula with a nice volumizing effect that you can build easily. I love how the formula doesn’t feel stiff on lashes and there are no smudging and clumping at all. Since the formula is waterproof you may take extra removal steps to gently remove the formula from the lashes without pulling the lashes. I love to use my oil cleanser to nourish and break down the mascara.

The Liquid Precision Marker liner from Quo Beauty is quite amazing. I haven’t had experienced such a jet black liner with a precise applicator from a drugstore before. This comes in their fall collection that carries a great range of alluring shades but for me this jet black liner is everything. It stays up without any smudging or smearing.

I’ve also been loving the Kiss Glue Lash Liner from Kiss beauty. It’s easy to apply without struggling with lash application.

For lips, I love a good hydrating liquid lipstick and the new Quo Beauty’s liquid lipstick is my new find. They are hydrating with good lasting power. There are limited shades in this collection but I have been loving the shades in Its Your Mauve and Cashmere Scarf for the season.

Brushes are essential to my everyday makeup application and one of the brands that I have been continuously using is the Real Techniques brushes. They are affordable and perform amazingly with a good quality that lasts a very long time. I just got my hands on the NEW Real Techniques Artist Essentials Brush Set that is all you need to finish up your look and this includes:

  • RT 217 Expert Edge Large is a symmetrical cut featuring 5 unique edges that is a perfect brush to apply liquid and cream foundation.

  • RT 420 Spotlight Fan is a precision fan shape brush that evenly distrubutes the powder over the complexion.
  • RT 317 Smudge Liner with thin angled bristles to apply + smude eyeliners.
  • RT 425 Lip Smudge is a dense, with domed bristles that apples and belnds cream lipsticks and liners.

I’ve also been loving using their Miracle Complexion Sponge in rotation with my Beauty Blender. The Real Techniques Eye Shade + Blend Brush Set is what I like to use to create my everyday smoky eye looks. They’re easy to use and blend eyeshadows quite nicely over the eyelids.

Skincare

I just discovered the new Loreal Midnight Serum that is formulated with antioxidants, hyaluronic acid and vitamin E to help renew skin’s look for more radiant-looking skin. The serum is lightweight and absorbs immediately into the skin with a silky texture that immediately nourishes the skin. I don’t get impressed easily but this one really works great on a nightly skincare routine and you do see a difference in skin’s texture within a matter of a week.

Vichy’s Mineral 89 is one of the best face serums that works amazing on the skin and yet they recently launched a better version of Mineral 89 Probiotic Fractions that is designed to help skin with pollution, nutrition and psychological stress. Its infused with niacinamide to brighten up the skin.

Vitamin C serum has been essential to my skincare routine and the Vichy Liftactiv Specialist Peptide-C Anti-aging Ampoules 10% are quite amazing serum to try. They’re packed in unique packaging and the formula consists of only 10 ingredients without fragrance, alcohol and preservatives. Its also formulated with hyaluronic acid while the formula is quite gentle and a perfect way to introduce to your skincare routine. It brightens and adds radiance to the skin immediately.

Neostrata’s skincare products were on my radar and finally, I got my hands on some of their new launches. The brand Just feels of the items I got my hands on are quite effective in bringing in the glow to the skin.

  • Gycolic Microdermebrasion Polish – this is a one step exfoliating formula that is gentle and reserfaces the skin immediatly. Its a perfect treatment for your skin on weekly basis – I would recommend once a week.
  • Illuminating Serum – this is a multi action serum to brighten any uneven skin tone. The formula carries a gentle exfoialtor to help fade the discolorations of the skin in most effective wasy. The formula also includes 4% Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), B-Resorcinol and Licorice Extract to help with the brightening of the skin. The texture is super light and its a perfect serum to introuce to your morning routine.
  • Night Repair Cream with 8% AHA – this is slightly an intensive treatment. It works to renew the skin and add radiance but it may add sensitivity to the skin. You may want to use a good sunscreen to avoid any sun damage even after the use of this products for at least a week after its usage.

For the final touch, the La Roche-Pose Toleriane Sensitive Creme is a perfect formula. It is lightweight, non-greasy and works great on all skin textures with SPF 30 that will take care of your skin. The formula doesn’t leave any white cast on the skin plus works great under the foundation.

Haircare

I have been testing a few new haircare launches that I shared in THIS POST which includes some of my favourite drugstore haircare products. In the meantime, I’ve been testing the Elvive Dream Lengths Haircare line from Loreal. The range is designed for long The entire collection is well designed to repair hair with castor oil which nourishes and keeps long hair healthy.

I found the 8-second Wonder Water (fully reviewed HERE)is as good as the original formula so you can keep up with any and you’ll get the same results.

Vichy’s Dercos Anti Dandruff shampoo has been one of my all-time favourites, at the same time I have used the Derco Thickening Shampoo and Balm that has performed very well in the past yet I have been using their Derco Fortifying Treatment 5 for the last couple of weeks that has added more volume to my hair. They’re very easy to use and work great on all hair textures.

I hope you find this roundup helpful. I have tested and gone through all of them to see how they work. Let me know if you get to try them – I would love to hear from you.
