Makeup by Mario SurrealSkin Liquid Foundation

Mario just released a new addition to his makeup line SurrealSki Liquid Foundation ($55.00). I’ve been a fan of Mario for his makeup application skills but unfortunately haven’t tried much from his line than Transforming Skin Enhancer & SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Perfector (reviewed here) which I was really impressed with. As a complexion lover, I knew I wanted to try this new foundation from him immediately.

This new SurrealSkin Liquid Foundation is a lightweight medium-coverage foundation with a luminous and natural finish. The shade range is quite impressive, carrying shades with different undertones from the lightest to the darkest. I was able to get myself the shade 9W (light with medium warm undertones) which is a perfect match for my skin (it does look slightly more yellow but I like it that way). This is one of the foundations that immediately sets on the skin and gives that flawless finish. The skin doesn’t need extra prep or glowing primer for the application (it has everything to give you that nice glow) as well as doesn’t require setting with the powder as it sets beautifully with amazing lasting power. I was quite impressed with its lasting power as it didn’t move or budge after 6 hours of wear. As good as it sets on the skin, I am really confident that this is going to look even more beautiful on summer days.

I find the coverage is medium but you can sheer it out using less product and applying it with a beauty blender and build up the coverage by layering and by using a flat brush. I love to wear it with medium coverage and using a flat brush which I find is the best way to apply and it gives that flawless finish without any layering. It’s a foundation that you don’t give a second thought, it’s one that will even out the skin, looks naturally luminous and is easy to apply. I also tried both cream and powder products (blush, bronzer, setting powder) and the foundation performs great with both textures. I find the foundation works great on dry to normal combination skin.

The packaging is sleek looking, you can literally see the little glowing particles from its container as well is very easy to fit in your makeup bag.

The foundation speaks to me, it has everything I like to wear for day and night looks (medium coverage, glowing finish, and lasting power), and it reminds me of Charlotte Tilbury’s Beautiful Skin Foundation (reviewed here) but I wouldn’t wear this on special occasions. If you’re someone like me who loves naturally glowing-looking skin and doesn’t like powder to set the foundation then I would highly recommend this foundation, especially for this price. I have linked some of my favourite items from the brand below for you in case you’re looking for recommendations.
