Stila Cosmetics launched a new base line earlier this year called Lingerie Soufflé Skin Perfecting along with setting powder. This line offers smooth, natural that has a soft glow coverage. I have been testing these new addition from the brand from beginning of the spring season when it newly launched. Stila Cosmetics bases have been my favorite, I have had used their Aqua Glow Serum line reviewed here as well as Stay All Day foundation which I loved it.
For foundation during summer time I prefer something that is semi-glow with a little bit of coverage, something that looks natural but also at least cover some imperfections of my skin. I don’t have a perfect skin so visible coverage is essential for me. First impression with this foundation was not so good for me, since I tried it for couple of times and every time it would roll up to my skin and the cover is quite sheer as well. I knew some how there is something wrong, I felt its either my skin care that doesn’t go along with this foundation or I was applying it wrong. But I’m glad I found the way out to this foundation because it has become my favorite for the season. All you need is a setting spray before applying this foundation – I’m reaching to it constantly and love how it transforms the skin for a super nice and natural look.
Lingerie Souffle (C$40.00 for 1.0 fl. oz./30 mL) is a light weight foundation that carries light refracting particles for a more smooth, blur and even skin tone. Glowy luminous foundations can be hit or miss for many. Most of the foundations looks incredible on my skin, especially when I really use hydrating skin care products. I have a dry skin with some areas that I count as Normal. This foundation carries a very luxuriously whipped texture which works amazing with finger tips. For me I needed to spot treat my skin with a good concealer that matches my skin tone and this foundation wonders. It adds a nice translucent veil that makes the skin look perfect. It feels light on skin and wears comfortably all day long. The shade range is quite amazing.
The packaging of this foundation is quite interesting and super luxurious looking. But I feel like there is some thing I don’t like about the packaging is that I don’t like to dig out the foundation with my finger tips. I like the pump dispenser but for the fact that this foundation carries a mouse like texture this could have been the best way to pack. I personally use a little specula to get my foundation and apply it at the back of my hand then I go from there to apply to my face. I loved using my finger tips as well as my beauty blender – both ways the finish look is incredible.
In terms of lasting power it holds up pretty well with or without primer.
I personally don’t like to wear primers, but a good hydrating serum or setting spray works best for me. With this foundation a setting spray is must have.
Next is the Lingerie Souffle Skin Perfecting Primer (C$47.00 for 1.0 fl. oz./30 mL) is a opulently whipped gel formula primer. It comes in two finishes (illuminating or bronzing). I got to try it out in illuminating texture, it has a very soft light refracting pearls that adds a natural looking glow. It does blur and perfecting effect. It doesn’t clog, or irritate the skin. It gives skin a nice glow and I like using this primer with other foundations bit as a person who doesn’t like primers in general, I didn’t find this essential to create a flawless base. I feel it works amazing for those who carries larger pores, because I found it literally makes the skin look pore less. In terms of primers – this is one of the better options I’ve tried in terms of smoothing the skin and creates a nice canvas for foundation, concealer and powder.
The Buffing Powder (C$39.00 for 0.39 oz./11 g) is a microfine powder that instantly blurs imperfections and sets makeup. It comes in three shades to cover all skin tones. This is powder is non-drying and enriched with silica and other oil-absorbers. As much I don’t like to wear or set my foundation with powders I get hooked with those I like. I loved how it sets on skin without looking heavy or cakey. The formula is quite nice and amazing and is made with three versions: two that rea tinted with soft matte finish and one that is translucent and imparts a subtle glow.
The only thing I do not like about this powder is the packaging. It comes with a pump (spray) dispenser. I find it awkward and a little confusing for those who doesn’t really know how to use it. While it packaging makes it easy to travel or fit it into your on the go makeup bag. I personally use a puffing sponge to dispense the powder and apply it to the face. The finish of this powder is amazing and add so much glow to the over all look.
Bottom line all three items are extremely good in terms of performance. I will be using up the foundation this summer season and I think its going to make a good base for my winter foundations. For the primer I’m not so sure, I find I love it enough to use it time to time or when I needed. The powder is some thing I’m loving the most, for its glow. It have been a game changer for me.
