Givenchy | Prisme Libre Skin-Caring Matte Foundation

Givenchy just introduced their new Prisme Libre Skin-Care Matte Foundation ($62). The Prisme Liber Skin-Care Glow Foundation has been one of the best glowing bases I’ve ever tried (reviewed here) and I was super excited to find that they launched the same formula in Matte finish. If you’re familiar with Givenchy’s bases then you know their complexion products are truly amazing.

The new Prisme Libre Skin-Care Matte Foundation is a soft luminous matte finish foundation with a lightweight texture and medium buildable coverage with a 97% natural origin formula. The formula blends quite well for a soft demi-matte finish while it blurs out imperfections and looks natural on the skin and undetectable on the skin. The formula is infused with Capucine Extract, Pink Clay and Annatto Extract that help boost skin’s natural radiance, nourish the skin and help reduce the appearance of pores respectively. It doesn’t emphasize or set on fine lines and it really makes skin look more fresh and radiant through its wear. The collection comes in 35 shades to cover all skin tones. I got to try them in shades 250N and 270N which I find blend on my skin wonderfully. I find the neutral range carries a peachy undertone, it works on my skin since it blends out my dark under-eye circles and other imperfections.

On the skin, it doesn’t oxidize and I was quite surprised by its hold throughout the day. It blends really nicely with fingertips and a beauty brush and sponge. Lasting power is pretty impressive, it finishes the skin that is not glowy but there is that nice radiance with a soft-focus effect that looks like airbrushed. It covers up everything I need to cover including my under-eye dark circles.

As much as I love luminous and glowing foundations, this is one that is going to be perfect for summer days when I want to wear matte foundation but don’t want to show it on my skin. For me, I didn’t need to set it with heavy powder and lasted all day long. I did set it lightly with the Prisme Libre Loose powder, one of my all-time favourite setting powders. You don’t need to prep the skin heavily for this matte foundation, just a simple serum/primer or moisturizer would be good enough.

The bottle carries the same iconic look as the Prisme Libre Skin-Caring Glow foundation except with frosted glass that indicates its matte finish.

Overall, I am impressed and love this formula. I love how it has an amazing bendability that can work with fingertips and has buildable coverage and looks seamless on the skin. You can find the new Prisme Libre Skin-Caring Matte Foundation online and in-store at all Givenchy counters at Sephora, and Holt Renfrew.
