How Skincare Products works in Your Skin

I get asked and questioned on how to get glowing skin? my answer to all is – be consistent, it doesn’t happen over night. It works the same way as you start with a healthy lifestyle journey… it takes time and consistently to reach to your goals and to see the results, it takes at least 6-8 weeks. I started my journey of having really dry skin although I did had a good but simple skincare routine entering my 30’s. My routine was consist of a moisturizer and sunscreen (only when I would think I will be spending time in sun exposure) and that’s pretty much it. It did work ok during my 20’s as my skin’s collagen and its elasticity was in full term but as I entered my 30’s my skin started to look dull, dry especially under the eye area where I was not able to wear any kind of concealer or foundations would not look good at all and I started to see dark spots showing up more and more.

I was really into getting to know how to start with anti-aging skincare products and how to manage to give my skin that nice radiance and plumpness that I was missing. In the mean time I started with my blogging career as I got to test, and try skincare products and brands that I would have never thought I would have get to try or find. It took me around 2-3 years to really find a good skincare routine and products that would work on my sensitive skin and around another year to slowly get out of the dry and dull phase. I am now proudly can say that my skin has never looked this good. I do change my skincare routine seasonally which I share with you all on a blog post to help you find the right way to a good skincare routine and you may find I do stick with almost same brands and skincare steps.

Starting with a skincare routine takes a lot more than just using products. Knowing your skin and its needs is the first step. And as a blogger I do suggest that if you find a blogger that has or carries the same skin texture and type and you really trust her advice then it takes off your shoulder a lot as stepping into a store and finding yourself in a massive product shelves is overwhelming and it will take you a lot more time to discover what you’re really looking for.

When it comes to skincare products, how to use and how long it takes to see the results – I am sharing some of the best ingredients and how to pair them with another ingredient to boost its results.

Here is how long skincare products with different ingredients work on your skin.

Niacinamide (8-12 weeks) it improve skin hydration by preventing evaporation of moisture from the skin into the environment. It’s also a natural anti-inflammatory ingredient, so it’s great for calming irritated skin but also good for people with sensitive skin. It works great paring it with a Hyaluronic Acid. You may want to lock it down with a good hydrating moisturizer as it may make your skin a little dry.

Vitamin C (4-6 weeks) It slows early skin aging, prevent sun damage, and improve the appearance of find lines and wrinkles, dark spots, and acne. It works great if you pair it with a moisturizer formulated with Vitamin E. and it really works in your morning skincare routine.

Retinol (8-12 weeks) It increases skin cell production (proliferation) as well as it helps unclog pores. Retinol also exfoliates your skin and increases collagen production, which can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, giving your skin a fresher, plump appearance but in the mean time you may want to stay away from other harsh chemicals peels. It is very important to wear your sunscreen at all times when using Retinol. Again, you want to pair it with a really hydrating cream as you may feel skin more dryer than usual. Only use it in your nightly skincare routine (start using it once a week).

Glycolic Acid (4-8 weeks) It works to exfoliate the skin, speed up cell turnover, and boost collagen production. Glycolic acid helps to clear pores, smooth fine wrinkles, improve skin tone, fade dark patches and sun damage, and hydrate skin for a more youthful appearance but it penetrates deeper into the skin layers, it also dehydrates and irritates the skin. I personally do like as much Glycolic Acid as it is more harsh than any other acid and you can not pair it with Vitamin C. There is big NO when it comes to using Glycolic Acid on dry skin type but suitable to oily skin types. It pairs well with a good hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic Acid works immediately, it helps skin stretch and flex and reduces skin wrinkles and lines. Hyaluronic acid is also proven to help wounds heal faster and can reduce scarring. It is one of the best ingredients or in another work best skincare product to keep in your skincare routine at all times.
