Laura Mercier | Translucent Loose Setting Powder Light Catcher

Laura Mercier extended her award-winning loose setting powder collection with Translucent Loose Setting Powder Light Catcher (C$51.00 for 1 oz/ 29 g). I received them as press samples but I had my eyes on them once they were released. Powders don’t work great on my skin but there are quite a few that I use to set my foundation and Laura Mercier’s Loose powder is one of them. I was excited to find the new collection for its radiant finish as I love the dewy and glowy skin look.

Translucent Loose Setting Powder Light Catcher has a soft blurring effect on skin with a light tint that can be matched to your skin easily that helps demolish any imperfections on the skin and is infused with a blend of skin tone-contrasting and correcting pearls that offer skin that flawless luminous look that looks natural.
The collection is offered in three shades to cover all skin tones:

  • Celestial Light is a champagne beige shade desinged for fair to light skin tones
  • Honey Star is a golden peach shade desinged for medium skin tones
  • Cosmic Rose is a bronzed rose shade desinged for medium-deep to deep skin tones

It’s not your regular setting powder, it carries a very noticeable glow but is not too frosty. So you may only use it to the places where you want to glow yet I wouldn’t recommend set under-eye area or experiment with the baking method. I can use either #1 or #2 to set my foundation depending on how tan my skin is as well as I have been using it to add dimension to my overall look and I am beyond obsessed with its finish. Yet Cosmic Rose #3 is too dark for my skin.

I love to dust it all over my face especially the parts I want to add warmth with #2 and highlight areas such as my tip of the nose, forehead temples and top of the cheeks with #1, the finish is buildable so you can lightly dust all over the complexion for a natural glow or using a sponge tip or detailed brush you can layer it for an exceptional glow – either way, the finish is flawless and radiant. The powder itself is weightless so doesn’t add texture to the skin. As many know I love to use products within the brand range so I have been wearing to test this powder with Laura Mercier’s Flawless Lumière Radiance-Perfecting Foundation (reviewed here) which is one of my all-time favourite foundations for a dewy and flawless finish and applies the best with the Powder Brush. The lasting power is very good and it stays put well for a good amount of time.

I have shared the entire look below that contains my favourite products from Laura Mercier.

Velour Extreme Matte Lipstick in Fresh

I haven’t had tested or experienced any other light-catching loose powder before or at least I don’t recall one. But I have been loving this formula as it adds that extra glow I like.
Bottom line I am in love with this new Translucent Loose Setting Powder Light Catcher. I love the finish and how it sets the foundation in place with a nice subtle dewy glow. The colour barely shows on the skin but it evens out the skin and I really like that it gives a sheer, natural finish but is not visible. You can now find them at Sephora, Shoppers Drugmart, Hudson’s Bay and Lauramercier.ca.
