Summer Minimal Makeup Routine

Today I am rounding up a few of my favourite summer beauty staples and favourites I have in rotation for minimal makeup looks I achieve for every day. Although I am used to staying home yet summer breaks are here and I do get dressed for the day and put up some makeup to help me feel more like myself. I have the same makeup routine for weekends but with a little more effort and coverage. I keep it super casual but I find myself ready enough to step out of the house with kids when we need to right away + hoping for a back to normal life.

As usual, I do experiment with makeup tricks and techniques to find better ways to keep my makeup in place better, longer and without looking cakey but it seems like I get a turn back to what I love to do. I love clean dewy skin with my face framed by my brows and mascaras. Although extreme contour and highlight plus bronzer looks are fading, I still like to have a light bronzed complexion to add warmth to my overall look.
For powder, I am still not a lover of setting powder especially when the weather gets hot and humid. I did try out setting my base with a loose powder this past weekend and it was a fail. I like my base glowy. But I found both Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder + Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish works very well. I do like to rotate my base but my top 3 favourite formulas are in different categories are as follows:

Cream Tinted Moisturizers + CC Creams:

For the base, I always stick to my CC Creams during the summer season and recently I shared my thoughts on the Chanel CC Cream here which I am in love with at the moment. But all 3 bases are a must-have during the summer season to get that nice natural finish depending on your looks with a good amount of SPF you need for the day.

  • Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is one that I ultimatly reach out almost every day. It has a sheer coverage but evens out the skin and makes skin look better without any texture. Its a perfect base for every day.
  • Chanel Complete Correction CC Cream in 30 Beige (review + before/after here) is perfect base for a day that isn’t that hot and humid or you can set it with a setting powder to last longer. Gives a medium coverage and looks flawless on skin.
  • It Cosmetics CC+ Your Skin But Better in Light is my favourite formula that is full coverage and covers me with my daily SPF and with amazing finish. I personally love the matte finish for its lasting powder.

Powder Fondations:

I don’t use powders but when I do these 3 give the most flawless finish to the skin. They’re easy to use + you can wear them alone or on top of your foundation for extra coverage without building any texture.

Concealers are my best friends. But for minimal looks I use correctors. If I ever have to choose a base it’s concealer. There are only a few that I can handle during the summertime. I am sharing my all-time favourite concealers and corrector for summer.

Eyes & Brows

For eyes and brows, I like to keep it simple but they’re one of the features that you need to enhance to frame the face. For every day my bronzer does a great job of adding warmth to my eyes but there are few cream formulas that add an extra dimension immediately without putting any effort. For my brows, I have been loving the tinted brow products with gel formula to get that micro-bladed kinda look.

  1. Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel
  2. It Comsmetics Brow Power Filler Volumizing Tinted Fiber Eyebrow Gel

  1.  Charlotte Tilbury’s Eyes To Mesmerize Cream Eyeshadow in Rose Gold , Star Gold are my favorite shades to add color and demenion plus they have an amazing lasting power.
  2. Armani Eye Tint Long-Lasting Liquid Eyeshadows are another favorite formula, that exceptional demenion and color to the eyes.

  1. Currenlty I am loving both Lancome Lash Idole Mascara (for soft look) + Monsieur Big Mascara (for bold lashes)
  2. bareMinerals Strength and Length Serum Infused Mascara is one I am loving for its clean look and best applicator
  3. Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes Volumizing & Lengthening Mascara is my favorite at the moment.

Blush + Bronzer

Using multi-tasking products make life easy. For bronzers, I like to use it to add warmth all over my complexion and for blushes – fresh soft coral and pinks are my on the go.

  1. Nars Summer Solstice Cheek Duo is one of the best limited edition bronzers. Its lightweight, adds nice color on complexion plus glow.
  2. Guerlian Terracotta Sunkissed Natural Bronzer Powder just rediscovered the new formula and its amazing how it looks on skin.
  3. Estee Lauder Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Powder Bronzer is a very classic and versatile bronzer for all skin types and love the finish on the skin with a nice glow.

  1. Nars Orgasm Liquid and Powder blushes are my classic and on the go to get color and glow at the same time.
  2. Laura Mercier Blush Color Infusion in Watermelon is a must have for the season.
  3. Bite Beauty Daycation Whipped Cream Blush is been one i reach out almost every day for the lightweight and lasting formula.

I like to keep my lip products simple and easy. For every day I use nice tinted balms which I have listed them numerous time here on the blog but when on weekends I like to use jumbo lip liners or pencils to contour and define my lips and top it with a gloss. I will list all my favourite ones with their shades for you here:

  1. Dior Addict Lip Glow in Ultra Pink which is a nice luminous sheer pink but adds enough color.
  2. YSL Beauty Rouge Volupté Shine Lipstick Balm in Mad Nude.
  3. Nars Afterglow Lip Balm in Deep Throat.

I hope this post was helped you find your way to beauty products during the summertime.

bareMineral Original Liquid Mineral Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF + Concealer Review

One of my favourite tried and true foundations formulas are the bareMinerals Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15. It’s one of the best formulas for a natural + flawless glow and covers all imperfections leaving the skin to look perfect! I have featured the formula numerous times here. I was super excited to find their Original formula that now comes in liquid form, along with the new Original Concealer.

Original Liquid Mineral Foundation

Here is the new Original Liquid Mineral Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 from bareMinerals that is proven to refine skin’s texture + offers medium coverage with a naturally luminous finish. It comes in 30 shades to discover with a great range of undertones. It’s a great everyday foundation with medium coverage with clean and vegan formula. Its lightweight + the texture doesn’t show one the skin with mineral-based SPF 20.

I have been wearing it for the entire week testing it in different ways to experiment with it in many terms. I was sent out three shades from the brand, which included:

  • FAIR 01 is desinged for very fair cool skin with a pink hue I found it to be too fair for my skin tone
  • LIGHT BEIGE 09 is good for light cool skin with a pink hue. It was a good match to my skin
  • MEDIUM 10 is a medium cool skin with a pink hue

I was able to wear Light Beige at the moment for how my skin looks on summer days. Although pink hues don’t suit my skin tone I found it blended on my skin very well. I like the formula because it looks like my skin but better, I have been loving that it offers a natural radiant glow. At the same time, it’s important to use a lightweight skincare routine since the formula gets blotchy on top of cream products. It applies very well on top of the serum. You might need some powder to set it for hot humid days but overall I find its lasting power is quite amazing.

Smoothing Foundation Brush

I also found the Smoothing Foundation Brush along with the foundations to test. I have only tested a selection of their brush and can say that they probably make the best brushes for makeup application in the market. For me, only some complexion brushes go to my everyday application and this is one of those brushes.
It’s a Fibre brush that is designed to use for lightweight foundations and tinted moisturizers. It has a dome-shaped design that seamlessly blends creamy foundations. It gives skin that airbrush finishes and picks up a great amount of product while distributes it quite evenly. I also find you can use this to apply your powder foundations quite amazingly.

Original Liquid Mineral Concealer

As a lover of bareMineral bases, I was excited to try the new Original Liquid Mineral Concealer. I found the concealer completes the look with its foundation. The formula is buildable with 90% naturally derived ingredients that cover and brighten up dark circles while minimizes fine lines. The texture is silky and creamy It has medium to full coverage with a natural dewy finish. You can use it for brightening or spotting concealing along with the foundation for a perfect radiant-looking complexion. It’s quite opaque but very easy to blend with fingers or a sponge.
The collection has 17 shades to cover all skin tones. Mostly the shades are designed to correct the dark circles which makes my excitement levels go up. I got to test three shades:

  • Light 2N is for very light neutral skin with peach undertones. this is a perfect shade for me to cover my under eye circles for every day look. It blends out with my skin naturally and does well with my BB creams.
  • Fair 1W  is desinged for very fair warm skin with yellow undertones, this one is too light for my skin tone. I could wear this on top of my foundation to add brightness for under eye area.
  • Fair 1N  is desinged for very fair neutral skin with peach undertones, is a perfect shade to cover my dark circles when I need to fully cover the dark circles.

For me, the Light 2N and Fair 1N were a perfect shade that carries enough peachy tones to cover my dark circles depending on my looks. I would recommend going with the same undertone as your skin that way you’ll be able to get a good match. I loved the creamy texture and its crease-free wear during this time of year. The applicator is just well designed to pick up a great amount of product and it evenly distributes the product.

Loved both formulas for my skin. It’s lightweight and doesn’t look too heavy while perfect skin. I hope you find this review helpful. I like to wear lightweight bases with medium coverage during the summertime to get my skin to look naturally perfect but with no texture on my skin. And I find this foundation to be one of them. You do need to set the foundation with a lightweight powder for warmer days to stay up. At the same time if you’re looking for a new multi-purpose complexion brush I would highly recommend taking a look at this Smoothing Brush. You can now find the collection available at Sephora, and all bareMinerals counters.

La Prairie | Pure Gold Radiance Concentrate

New in La Prairie is the Pure Gold Radiance Concentrate line. I was super excited to find the Pure Gold Radiance Concentrate Serum from this new collection from La Prairie. It’s a rich serum that revitalizes and enriches skin for a conceptional glow. The formula is designed to hydrate and bring that exceptional radiance to the skin. La Prairie is one of the brands that blows my mind every time I get to test their products. They’re luxury + high-end, and probably one of the brands with a high price tag but if you can effort it then it’s worth the splurge.

I have been testing the Pure Gold Radiance Concentrate Serum for the past 4 weeks to really see the results and I must say I am IMPRESSED! it’s unusual that I get super impressed with a skincare product easily but this one was first-time use loved for me. The texture is light, hydrates skin immediately and has that rich silky texture that I like in my serum but not oily. Using this serum for a couple of weeks now reminds me of the Platinum Rare Cellular Life-Lotion that had almost the same effect on my skin. Many of my Instagram followers had noticed the difference in my skin after its continuous use and I received quite many compliments.
Using the Pure Gold Radiance Concentrate Serum I saw the results in two weeks, it instantly adds radiance to the skin and smooths out the skin tone over time. I do lots of skincare testing but only a few remain as my stables on my daily skincare routine and definitely, this is one of them. A little goes a long way with this serum, I do use a first enhancing serum with this so I can use less of this serum for a longer period. The longer use the better you see the difference in skin texture.

The Serum is designed to slow down the renewal process of the skin. The Pure Gold Radiance Concentrate Serum comes in luxurious heavy metal gold packaging and a drop-out pump dispenser. and refill packaging. I personally like to use this during my nighttime skincare routine especially since days are quite hot and humid nowadays, when I double cleanse my skin and it gets better treatment overnight when there is less pollution. I have also been loving to use it as the last step to my morning routine to add that exceptional glow to my skin. The formula does carry small golden particles that add reflection to the skin. I also loved to prep my skin with this serum for my makeup which creates a flawless canvas for my makeup looks.

Bottom line, I think its one of the best products I have used from La Praririe by far interms of its performance and quick and effective results. I have tested a great range of Skin Caviar line, I love it but the effects aren’t as powerfull as this one and the Plantinum Rare Cellular line. I have linked some of my favorite from the same collections below.

You can now find the entire collection available at all department store at La Prairie’s counters.
