BARMINERALS | ORGINAL & MATTE FOUNDATION BROAD SPECTRUM SPF 15

bareMinerals foundations have been in my target from a long time. I have had used their BareSkin Serum foundation in sample size a while back during fall season and I was very impressed with the result on my dry skin within one use. Although the sample sized product I received from Sephora carried pretty good amount to try for a week. Since then I knew I had to try out some of the products from bareMinerals. I was very excited when I received a couple of press samples of bareMinerals foundations in Original finish and Matte finish . At first sight I knew I will not be able to try out the Matte finish foundation since I have a dry skin and Matte finish foundations are more likely for those with oily skin. But I couldn’t resist to try out the Original foundation right away.
These foundations come in loose powder form and are mineral-based foundations that offers a flawless sheer to full coverage finish. They’re infused with five pure ingredients that clinically proven to improve the appearance of skin over time.

Up first the bareMinerals Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 (C$36.00 for 0.28 oz/ 8 g) is an award-winning foundation with SPF 15 that delivers a natural finish (no-makeup look) that lasts up to 8 hours. I was a little carious to try it out at first time since I personally don’t like the powdery or dry feeling on my skin. I always prefer a luminous finish, it totally came out of my expectations. It looks like a powder but it feels like cream. The powder melts into the skin by touch, leaving skin smooth and flawless. The texture is lightweight yet buildable to full coverage.
Next the bareMinerals Matte Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 (C$36.00 for 0.28 oz/ 8 g) is also an award-winning foundation with SPF 15 that absorbs excess oil and controls the shine for a complete naturally matte finish look. It does claim that it’s proven to minimizes the appearance of the pores. I have no pores (or maybe few very small pores just around my nose area) so I don’t know how it looks when you have larger pores but using a nice primer will definitely help to cover up those pores.
These foundations don’t emphasize any fine lines or wrinkles at all. I did try out both foundations, I did feel a little bit dry on skin with Matte finish but Original give me a glowing complexion. I also tried them out different ways – alone, with primer and priming spray to really see how it works on skin.  It works amazing either ways but I would personally loved using the Urban Decay’s Quick Fix Hydracharged Complexion Prep Priming Spray reviewed here. It really keeps skin well hydrated and gives a fully charged skin.
Both Foundations comes in a great range of colors that covers all skin tones, I wish there were more options for pink under tone skin but I’m sure you can fit in these shades easily.

Closer look to finish and color chart:

I also received the Beautiful Finish Foundation Brush (C$40 each) which is a synthetic fibers brush especially designed for Original and Matte foundations to deliver a sheer to full coverage finish. This brush offers a perfect coverage for your foundation while reducing the application time. It carries a very unique design where it distributes a perfect amount of product for a flawless finish. The brush is super soft and comes in one (large) size. I loved the unique design while it’s easy to carry on while you’re on the go for touch ups.

The foundation comes in a nice innovated Click, Lock, Go sifter that makes sure there no fall outs or spills as well as you have a full control on product use.
Swirl a small amount of foundation in the lid using a powder brush, tapping off away the excess. Buff the foundation into the skin using circular motion starting from center of the face outward. I used the Flawless Application Face Brush as well as my Chisel Brush from Pur Cosmetics reviewed here and I found it works beautifully with both brushes. You will get a little more coverage using the Chisel Brush than the Flawless Application Face Brush but I would still prefer using the Flawless Application Face Brush since you can build the coverage to your taste easily while with Chisel Brush you will get a full coverage right within first swipe. And definitely less is more with this foundation.

Over all a huge thumbs up for both foundations, I love the no make up look especially during the day time. It does cover skin imperfections like redness, uneven skin tones and spots. It doesn’t feel like you’re wearing any thing on skin. As well as I loved the Beautiful Finish Foundation Brush since it gives perfect finish to your foundation and you can definitely build the coverage to your taste by layering the foundation. You can find these products at Sephora.
