BareMinerals is introducing GEN NUDE™ Lip collection this September 2016, featuring 60 shades and four finishes. This time BareMinerals have developed perfect Nude shades to complement all skin tones and lips, it’s just a field full of different Nude shades that we all dream to play. Each section of lip line have been divided in four mean color selection: Mauve, Pink, Peach and Beige. Whether you want a nice soft natural finish or a baked and edgy shades with a little of deeper contrast, you can find it all here. They are indeed are very light weight , moisturizing and with different textures, yet I think it gets more play full once you mix or layer these lip products to get an infinite ways to go nude. This GEN NUDE™ Collection includes: Matte Liquid Lipcolor, Radiant Lipstick, Butter cream Lipgloss and Under Over Lip Liner.
- GEN NUDE™ Matte Liquid Lipcolor (C$23 for 0.13 oz) – A full coverage moisturizing matte liquid lipstick that comes in with 20 shades to complement all skin tones. This is a long-wear lips color that carries a cream to matte finish with light weight formula and with no-tacking texture. Unlike most matte finish lip products, it doesn’t fell matte and doesn’t dry the lips at all, but rather it has a very creamy moisturizing feeling. I personally don’t like matte finish lip products since my lips are super dry and most of the matte liquid lipstick end up showing wrinkles or dry patches on my lips or they look too dusty once they dry. I like that they did not dry out my lips at all after swatching and testing wear, my lips did not show any signs of peeling or flaking when I experience once I try the matte liquid lipstick. I must include the lasting power is amazing, it lasted on my lips for pretty good amount of time plus it keeps lips nourished during the wear time. There will not be any color transfer if your lips touch anything (wait at least 10 minutes before eating or drinking to allow the lipcolor to set) but it does fade after a while. It has a very subtle vanilla scent, which I loved it.
The packaging was very ideal with a see through glass bottle and a flexible paddle applicator which glides on lips smoothly and offers a full coverage with single stroke. Love how it fan fit in to any type of bag on the go.
- Gen Nude Radiant Lipstick (C$25 for 0.12 oz) – A collection of creamy and moisturizing lipsticks in a great range of nude shades to complement all skin tones. There are 20 beautiful nude shades, the texture is very smooth and carries a demi-shine finish with medium coverage. I feels more like a nice creamy balm but with a better coverage, I found this collection carries darker tones than the Matte liquid lipstick. The formula is very creamy with a natural finish but a slightly on the glossier side. The texture is on the sheer side but you can get a good medium coverage by swiping it back and forth for a couple of times – although I do recommend a matching lip liner blended around the edges to help the finish look more neatly. I was sent out the Bubbles shade which is a very classic nude and one of my favorite color to wear when I chose to wear nude lips. I found it glides on lips very smoothly plus keeps the lips well moisturizer and it lasted on my lips as any other normal lipstick would stay. It gives a very luminous natural look, but enough color so can tell you are wearing lipstick.
The packaging and lipstick design is a little different, I personally love the traditional angles tip which makes applying lipstick much easier. It is designed in an angle but a little on the thicker side just like a lip balm.
- GEN NUDE™ Buttercream Lipgloss (C$23 for 0.13 oz) – A moisturizing, plumping lip gloss with ultra-creamy and smooth finish. This Buttercream Lipgloss comes in 15 gorgeous nude shades for all skin tones. The texture is very light with sheer – medium coverage. It does comes in two different finishes: High shine in 10 shades and Shimmer finish in 5 shades – both finishes carries high shine and transparent quality, the coverage is buildable but it does loses its intensity after couple of hours. What I loved about this lip gloss that you can wear it alone or with your lipstick, and it doesn’t have the sticky texture at all. It is formulated with plumping ingredient but without tingling, even though I love the tingled feeling – I really feel it’s working on my lips. Most of the times I love to wear a buildable lipgloss with my lip liner alone, it stay longer than using lipstick under neat plus using a lip liner with a little more contrast, gives fuller lip illusion.

Last but not least the GEN NUDE™ collection also carries a great range of Under Over™ Lip Liner (C$20 each) with rich pigment and velvety and creamy finish and comes in 5 beautiful shades, unfortunately I didn’t receive it with the collection. It’s meant to be worn over and under the lipstick. Over all I was very impressed with the whole collection, in terms of performance, lasting power and colors. If you’re some one like me that wears nude color lips almost 80% of the times, then I highly recommend you to check these gorgeous shades which will give your lips a very unique and edgy look.
